This dad really struck out.
A video of a fan chasing after a foul ball during a college baseball game at South Carolina’s Founder’s Park went viral after the man ended up hurting the young boy he was carrying while trying to snag the prize.
The video, which was posted Sunday on Twitter shows the Campbell Fighting Camels taking on the NC State Wolfpack when a player hit the ball into the right field pavilion which caused the dad to chase the coveted item.
“What NOT to do as a dad,” reads the tweet’s caption.
In the video, a man with a young boy in his arms attempted to field the ball on one bounce but missed the catch.
During a second attempt, the baseball fan, who has not been identified, attempted to grab the moving ball but lost his footing and fell causing his child to smack his head on the pavement.
ESPN commentators for the collegiate game uttered their own cry of shock after the child’s head was seen connecting with the concrete.
“Oh,” gasped one of the commentators.
The Post reached out to Founder’s Park for comment.
Several Twitter users also pitched their own takes on the incident.
“Where is CPP,” chastised one user — who, among others, assume the pair to be father and son. “Kid just racked his head on concrete over a $5 ball.”
“I see a divorce in his future,” chided another user. “I bet mom was one hot mama!”
“Need to take that child to the hospital for internal bleeding check,” pleaded a third person.
Other users defended the father’s actions.
“He didn’t do anything crazy, he just tripped because he was clumsy,” defended a user. “Stupid people trying to make a big deal out of this nonsense. What a joke.”
“Give me a break. This dad was trying to have a great experience with his kid at a baseball game while trying to catch a foul ball,” slammed another Twitter user. “Had he not tripped & fell, you either wouldn’t have posted anything or you’d be singing his praises.”
The Camels later slaughtered the Wolfpack in an 11-1 game, causing the North Carolina team to be eliminated from the Columbia Regional tournament.
